Tough Parenting?
This really goes under none of my beeswax but it’s what everyone is talking about today leaving me 1) disgusted 2) perplexed 3) just plain sad.
Was Alec Baldwin using “tough love” in that voice mail to his daughter, Ireland?
A colleague says everyone talks to their kids like that now.
Huh???
Someone please tell me that’s not true.

We’ve all lost patients with our kids and sometimes say things we wish we could take back. I’m not defending Mr. Baldwin because he went too far. Nor, do I know the truth about his situation. I have known of divorced parents who alienate a child against the other parent. It is a very difficult place to be, knowing that the other parent is saying and doing things to put you in a bad light. It is down right maddening. And as for the parent doing the alienation- your kids aren’t dumb- they know you are being spiteful- and they may not say so but they lose respect for you when you put down their other parent. I pray for the sake of their dauther that Mr. Baldwin and Ms. Basinger can work this out. This young lady deserves better.
