How can you have a happy Halloween when you have seven parties to attend?

I mean, that’s a lot of candy, cupcakes, cookies, pumpkin bread, pumpkin pie, pumpkin seeds, beer, liquor, wine, shots ... you get the idea.

It doesn’t have to be as scary as you think.

Before you hit the party scene, fill up on a healthy meal or at least a nutritious snack. Protein and fiber will help fill you up and keep you from attacking everything in sight at the buffet table.

Think you don’t have time? Grab an apple on the way out the door. Hey, it’s a start.

Offer to bring something to the party, and keep it on the healthy side. You could make Black Cat Bean Dip With Witches’ Hats. Per serving, it has 111 calories, 1g fat, 4g protein, 2g fiber and 21g carbs. Not too shabby.

Or what about this Bone Chilling Fruit Fondue? It has 136 calories per serving, 0.5g fat, 2g protein, 3g fiber and 33g carbs. Mmmm.

Between showing off your costume and cutting a rug, get your fill of water. In between shots if you have to.

As you check out the ghoulish grub, go for the things you really want—not everything from the spread. You don’t have to deny yourself. Just use moderation.
