I can see Madonna having a clothing line. How many of us tried to dress like her back in the day? Madonna is co-launching the line with her 13-year-old daughter, Lourdes, for the junior department at Macy’s. It will be available for back-to-school season Aug. 3. And there will be no pointy bras or lace T’s. This collection is all prints and embellishments and hard and soft elements, like a tutu dress, studded combat boots and floral print mini-skirts.
The line will include apparel, footwear, handbags and jewelry and range ini price from $12.00 to $40.00.

Will Madonna’s success in entertainment carry through to fashion? I think she’s going to be on the backs of a lot of teens.

Well I’m a bit ambivalent about whether Madonna’s going to be as successful in promoting a clothing line for 13 year olds or not. Most girls that age probably don’t even know how big Madonna was, especially since lately she hasn’t been in the media much.

Good point, Sam. But I do think most 13-year-old’s know who Madonna is because she is so engrained in American pop culture. I’ve spoken to tweens who know who she is and know how racy she has been in the past (hopefully nothing to racy in the line). I think she’s smart to use her daugher, Lourdes, as the face of the line to appeal to parents who may remember her “Like A Virgin” risque dress days.
