One of the huge cornerstones of the Miss America/Miss Florida program is that each contestant embraces a social platform of national significance. My social platform is “Moving to Prevent Childhood Obesity”. Many factors contribute to the overwhelming amount of obese children filling today’s society. There are a few specific culprits that stand out when identifying the reasons of child obesity which include: The lack of exercise or movement among children, the deficient motivation from parents and mentors, and the unhealthy the food choices which are consumed by children. As “MissPasco County” I am looking forward to visiting various schools and educating children about this issue.
I recently made an appearance at the open house for Gymboree Play&Music of Pasco County. Gymboree Play&Music focuses on the development of children and motivates both children and parents to get moving throughout their classes. Appearing and spending time at the open house for Gymboree was a wonderful experience. I was able to meet and greet with parents and children as they came in. I also was able to interact and talk with the children as they played around the equipment on the play floor. There was parachute and bubble time and all of the children had a blast! I am a strong supporter of Gymboree Play&Music and other similar programs. I think that is is wonderful to see the parent motivation as their child moves around and exercises.
A special “Thank You” To Gymboree of Pasco County for iniviting me to be a part of such an amazing event.
I have included some pictures from the open house event at Gymboree.
