Tonight, The Press played the Krewe—aka the kickball gods—in our third matchup.
I wasn’t sure how it was going to go.
On the one hand, today is Em’s birthday. On the other, we played with only 8½ people.
I was the ½.
I wasn’t planning to play because I have a sore throat and cough, and I feel really run down. I was going to watch for moral support.
Then I realized that we didn’t have enough players to field a full team.
Jess was awesome enough to play for Balls of Fury in the 7 o’clock game. So we asked if any of their players could stick around.
Marvelous Melva stepped up.
I put on my cleats and decided to play catcher but not kick.
Instead, Jess kicked for her AND me. She was up to bat at least 57 times tonight in an all-Jess triple-header.
Despite being down players, The Press kicked some butt. We started out the game 6-0.
By the bottom of the seventh, it was tied at 9s. It was time for OT, baby.
A tie was called in the early game after two extra innings.
Although the Krewe ultimately scored the winning run, The Press played with guts tonight.
Props to Dre, Ike, Franz and the rest of the Krewe.
