Weekend Eats - Aug. 29, 2011

Last weekend was a doozy, especially on the east coast where the weather was stormy and perfect for cooking indoor away from things like hurricanes.

During times of stress, we turn to comfort food. Hence the name. I happen to think 99.9 percent of all food is comforting in some way, but I digress.

Speaking of comfort food, dig that photo above from my Twitter friend @jencarlisle. She enjoyed her some of what she calls her “ultimate comfort food” of brisket and gravy over cornbread waffles, black-eyed peas, green beans.

Oooooof.

Sorry. Just had a moment there.

Better now.

Other great weekend grub contributed on Twitter and Facebook by my friends and followers include:

@nerditry - Decadence Sat. @ Ravenous Pig; home-cooked blacknd catfish, cous cous, grn. tomato/red pepper salad last nite.

@Brewkkake - Carnitas tacos from Tacos Al Carbon in Lake Worth, @CigarCityBeer Vuja De sour ale.

@xericwit - Homemade roasted edamame salad & smokey chipotle hummus

@karenmcallister - Orange Roasted Salmon. Delish & super easy. Thanks to @Allrecipes

@citizenjaney - Rosemary smoked chicken, tomato cobbler and farro salad. delish.

@SaintPetersblog - As good a Tuna Carpaccio as I’ve had in some time at Timpano’s Chop House.

Yvette Hammett - Done good last night! Creamy lobster medallions over wild rice from Florida Seafood site, roasted roma tomatoes from a Weight Watchers cook book, fresh asparagus and a crispy green salad! With Chardonnay, of course! YUM!!!

Ashley Rodriguez - Miami Spice last night at Capital Grille in downtown Miami. Big portions = a happy me.

Sounds amazing, right?

Here’s a gallery of photos contributed by other friends as well. (Bring a bib for the drool). For information on each photo, just click on the pic:
