New Port Richey –The Pasco County Health Department, Tobacco Prevention Program offers four Freedom From Smoking® Clinics a year to help smokers who want to quit. The Next Freedom From Smoking® Clinic sponsored by the Health Department starts Monday July 14 from 5:30-6:50 pm and will continue to meet the same time every Monday through August 25th. An additional session is scheduled for Thursday, July 31st. The clinic will be held at 10841 Little Road in New Port Richey and be facilitated by Lisa Sloan, MPH.
Clinic cost is $30.00; low income participants may be eligible for a reduced rate. Each student receives a student workbook, relaxation CD, incentives and optional nicotine patches. This eight-week quit smoking program was researched and developed by the American Lung Association.
Clinic participants learn to: strengthen their determination to quit; learn to handle situations which trigger their smoking; identify healthy substitutes for smoking; develop individual plans for dealing with the physical, social and emotional aspects of quitting.
