After week 2 of kickball, The Press still dominates!
We played a team of “drunk pool builders and their wives,” winning 7-4.
We rocked with about 15 on this week’s roster. Subs are a good thing.
Coach Todd had me on second base and kicking first.
After going 3-for-3 last week, I bombed this week, going 0-for-2. I gotta keep that ball on the ground.
Not to make a stink, but the drunken pool builders cheated. They had maybe two women on the field instead of an even number of guys and girls. And the ref didn’t say a word.
But we still held our own, thanks to some solid teamwork.
Toward the end of the game, I heard a familiar voice.
”THE PRESS!”
It was Sam and his teammates getting pumped for their 8 o’clock game. He was cheering us on!
Not to be foiled, I suggested we continue the competition and camaraderie at MacDinton’s, home to Bay area kickball leagues.
We did. We ate, drank and indulged in some flip-cup action.
My flipping was rusty, but I’ll be ready for that next week, too.
The Press is set to dominate at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ken Suarez Clearfield Softball Field, 3721 Clearfield Ave., Tampa.
Cheerleaders welcome!
