It turns out that they are the latest casualty of the seemingly ubiquitous Salmonella scare.
Grande Produce of Hidalgo, Texas, is recalling jalepeño and serrano peppers distributed between May 17 and July 17, as well as avocados with lot #HUE08160090889 because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.
Allegedly this is different from the tomato Salmonella scare. Thank goodness. Two different strains are better than one, right?
These jalapeño and serrano peppers, and avocados have been distributed to Florida.
