If you use solar energy in your home or business, researchers at USF want to help you show it off.

The American Solar Energy Society is holding its National Solar Tour on Oct. 2.

The Clean Energy Research Center, on the USF Tampa campus, is looking for local homes and businesses to be part of it.

This is the tour’s 15th year. Last year, the local leg featured homes in Seminole Heights and Temple Terrace and a restaurant in Brandon.

Based on previous turnout, organizers expect more than 160,000 participants to visit about 5,500 buildings in 3,200 communities across the country.

The tour is for anyone interested in solar power, from the merely curious to those trying to decide if the investment is worth it.

Here’s how to figure out what a solar system might cost.

For now, local organizers need places for people to tour, so if you’re interested, contact Barbara Graham at (813) 974-8804 or .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
