The diet food industry is growing in leaps and bounds with healthy(er) versions of naughty classics popping up every day. Some make the transition better than others.
It’s easy to get burned if you set your expectations too high.
Take Slim-Fast for instance. The makers bill it as a “rich creamy milk chocolate shake.” Saying that a can of Slim-Fast is like a milkshake is like saying baby carrots are like Cheetos. The similarities are there, but the differences prevail.
Don’t think I’m completely dismissing Slim-Fast, though. I drink their products often. They make a wonderful meal replacement--especially when you’re on the go.
If you’re looking for thicker fare, I would recommend sinking your teeth into a Clif Bar. Clif Bars are like granola bars on steroids. Each delicious bar contains scores of vitamins, protein, and fiber. They come in 14 flavors that run the gamut from Carrot Cake to Peanut Toffee Buzz.
Also, check out Nabisco’s 100 Calorie Packs. Each tiny pouch houses a small dose of snack that fits right in your purse--or man satchel.
Selection is king come snacky time, and Nabisco has got your back.
Sweet tooth out of control? Nab some low-cal Oreos, Honey Maid Graham Crackers, or Chips Ahoy! cookies.
In a salty mood? You can’t go wrong with Wheat Thins, Cheese Nips, or Ritz Snack Mix.
While each variety is slightly modified from its original form, the flavors you know and love remain intact. Portions are small too, but as a quick followup to a healthy chunk of fruit, they’re sure to satisfy.
What are you guys eating out there? Feel free to turn me on to some of your low-cal faves. Right now, I’m off for a swim. See you tomorrow!

Try the Orville Reddenbacher White Cheddar Cheese Popcorn cakes. They’ve got a little flavor and slight saltiness. Better than plan old rice cakes.
Two of them are 60 calories, 1 g of fat and 2 g of fiber.
Just don’t eat an entire bag with a jar of peanut butter at one sitting.

Good call! I find that a lot of what I’m craving is salty bold flavor, not grease.
I have a shaker of cheddar seasoning that really helps to turn boring “health conscious” popcorn into something palatable.
