Recycling CFL Bulbs

The Compact Florescent Light bulbs or (CFLs) are much more energy-efficient than the old incandescent ones.  They last much longer too.  However, they do present a environmental problem once they’ve burned out.  Because they contain some mercury, they should not be sent to landfills.  You can take your CFLs to the Household Chemicals and Electronics drop-off sites for free.

Waste Management also offers a way to recycle these bulbs…keeping them out of landfills and reusing the parts.  Click here to order a CFL recycle kit.
