The Compact Florescent Light bulbs or (CFLs) are much more energy-efficient than the old incandescent ones. They last much longer too. However, they do present a environmental problem once they’ve burned out. Because they contain some mercury, they should not be sent to landfills. You can take your CFLs to the Household Chemicals and Electronics drop-off sites for free.
