Just imagine, you’re announced the winner of a prestigious modeling contest in your country. In front of a live audience—and millions of viewers—you hug the runner-up and proceed to tell the audience and judges how grateful and happy you are to be given this opportunity.
Then oops! A few seconds later, you get a big surprise. The host announces there’s been a mistake. YOU didn’t win, someone else did. AWKWARD!
That’s what happened in the finale of Australia’s Next Top Model when Kelsey Martinovich, 19, was mistakenly announced the winner. But the real winner was 18-year-old Amanda Ware.
The show blamed miscommunication between the host, directors and a broadcasting truck control room. Though her reign was short, Martinovich managed to maintain composure when the mistake was announced, hugging the winner and acknowledging mistakes can happen.
She still will receive a $20,000 prize, a trip to New York, and more than likely, many offers or maintaining her grace and dignity in spite of a big goof! See the reactions below.
