The Orioles signed RHP Fernando Cabrera to a minor-league deal and assigned him to Triple-A with the promise of a September callup. Cabrera nullified the Rays’ claim off waivers last week, but Tampa Bay had hoped still to sign the 95-mph throwing reliever out of Cleveland’s organization. No such luck.
UPDATE: That’ll teach the Orioles to snake a player away from the Devil Rays. The Rangers (in case you missed it) set an American League record by scoring 30 runs against Baltimore tonight. Then again, maybe that means the Orioles DO need Cabrera more than the Rays.

Wonderful doesn’t even begin to describe your accomplishments--losing the weight and finishing the race. I am inspired! There’s gonna be a whole lotta room in that elevator when the new, slimmer 6 of us get together again!!

Way to go, Marty. I am so proud of you. This is such a wonderful way to go about facing something as serious and as challenging. But most of us wouldn’t step out. I think we forget our connection to one another. But you embrace it. Thank you for reminding me that we are all just human, together. And I am so excited that you get to do something so important for yourself...because we LOVE you. And need you around for a loooong loong time!
