Michelle Obama’s First Lady looks

I watched Michelle Obama on the “Today” show this morning. Yes, I was interested in what she had to say about curbing childhood obesity. But I also wanted to see what she was wearing (I can’t help it; it’s the fashion reporter in me).

You see, like me, Mrs. Obama is tall. And I love to see how she puts different looks together and makes it work. She’s helped popularize cardigan sweaters, wide belts, sheath dresses, chunky jewelry and ruffled tops. I love the way she belts an unbottoned cardigan sweater over a dress or skirt. She likes kitten heels (so do I), but she also likes to pair flirty flats with fabulous sheath dresses.

She makes it easy for any woman to emulate her look without taking out a second mortgage on their home (and trust me, I do). While raiding the First Lady’s closet it out of the question, the folks at Overstock.com have provided a few of Obama’s modern signature l;ooks, so we can all step out in Presidential style on the cheap.
