I’ve got this certain jog that I’ve been doing every night. It’s a scenic trip that I’m growing rather fond of.
Usually, I can take my car on the path to clock the distance, but in my new neighborhood, my route consists of many areas not fit for an automobile.
That’s when I log into mapmyrun.com.
Mapmyrun.com uses Google map technology to help you plot your jogging path on a map of your area. You can also plot over full color satellite images or--if your geeky enough--you can even upload positioning points from your GPS unit.
The site then magically calculates your distance in miles or kilometers. There’s also a handy “out & back” feature for when you only want to plot your moves in one direction and have the site automatically retrace your steps back home.
If this isn’t enough to pull you in, there’s also an amazing little workout calculator that displays average pace, speed, and calories burned.
My current route clocks in at 3.59 miles. Since I know it takes me about an hour to complete, the site automagically determined that I run a 16:43 min/mi at an average speed of 3.59 mi/hr. I’m also burning 584 calories. Not bad.
Check it out folks, it’ll blow you away!
I’ll see you in 584 calories.

Wow, what a great website! I run in my apartment complex, but around the inside permeter, so I’ve had no idea what my distance has been. My .74 miles is nowhere near as impressive as your 3.59.

Yeah, but I run that 3.59 in a very unimpressive 60 minutes.
