A News Channel 8 viewer wrote in to Stacie Schaible:
I currently have Brighthouse service for my phone, cable and computer and was paying $175 a month for it when I kept getting mail from Verizon that said I could get the same for $114 a month. So I called Verizon and verified that the price was right and, with the extras I had, it came to about $125. So I called Brighthouse and told them I was thinking about changing to Verizon and they immediately patched me through to the “Retention” division where I was told that I could reduce my bill to $127 a month. When I asked how, she told me that they would just lower my bill. I had to do nothing. She said they had contingency plans so that , when Verizon offered a special they could match it to keep customers. Magic. Two phone calls and I have $50 more a month in my purse.

Hmm makes you wonder why Bright House was fleecing you for all these years if with just such a simple request they can lower your price. If Bright House had any sense of respect for its customers it wouldnt have needed you to threaten to leave them before dropping your bill. I cant see how you could reward Bright House with your business after they just admitted to ripping your off for years.

I read about all the complaints of Verizon not meeting it’s customers needs and also wonder why several of my friends who are contractors for Verizon are stitting home with out work and are trained to fix some of the problems. Why are they not out there? Suffering is coming on both sides of the fence

We did this on Friday. Our cable bill went from about $179 a month down to about $139 or so. And they pro-rated us for next month’s bill! It is definitely worth it to spend some time on the phone with them negotiating your bill down.

Why do you have to call? So we have been paying an extra 40 to 50 dollars a month , for how long? Thats the problem with big biz,why can`t they just lower your bill.I guess thats why competition is good.I would stay faithful to a company that lowered my bill sometimes, compared to raising it all the time. Perfect example subway lowered there subs to 5 bucks, they made record profits that month. That 40 or 50 dollars would help in my gas tank.I switched to VZ and saved 23 bucks a month. The product is great, but I have to call in every month to get my bill adjusted.
