Evan Longoria broke out of an 0-for-13 slump with a two-run home run off Josh Beckett as the Rays tied the Red Sox, 2-2, in the first inning of the ALCS tonight at Tropicana Field.
Longoria’s blast about 10 rows over the left field wall scored Carlos Pena, who had reached base with a two-out double before Longoria stepped to the plate.
Longoria, the talented rooke who was 3-for-3 with two home runs in his first playoff game (against the White Sox in Game 1 of the ALDS), had gone 1-for-16 since before stepping to the plate in the first inning tonight.
