A bit of New Orleans flavor will visit the area this weekend when chef Leon Galatoire shares French Creole dishes from Galatoire’s, his family’s century-old Bourbon Street restaurant.
Galatoire, a fourth-generation member of the historic restaurant’s founding family, hosts a dinner at 7 p.m. Saturday at The Tampa Club in downtown Tampa. The menu includes gumbo, the house salad from Galatoire’s as a second course, Oysters en Brochette as an appetizer, crawfish etouffee for the main course and crème broulee for dessert.
On Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Galatoire plans to cook a traditional New Orleans jazz brunch. In addition to the Tampa Club’s standard brunch items, there will be smoked duck andouille gumbo, eggs sardou, shrimp and grits, and praline banana bread pudding with rum sauce.
Galatoire once was a chef at the New Orleans culinary institution, but now tours the country doing guest appearances at clubs around the country, according to Tampa Club general manager Barry Shields.
The Tampa Club, located 42 floors atop the Bank of America building, has a private membership but will open to the public for Galatoire’s events.
Dinner on Saturday costs $63 per person and includes dinner, tax and gratuity. The Sunday brunch is $44 per person. It includes brunch buffet, unlimited champagne, tax & gratuity.
