In The Swing

What are you doing this Saturday?

If you want to roll with the cool kids, you’ll be at the Rays-Yankees spring training game at Steinbrenner Field.

Hopefully it won’t rain.

I’ll be there for Spring Swing—Moffitt’s Sun Safety Tour.

It’s a partnership between Moffitt Cancer Center and the Rays dedicated to increasing skin cancer awareness, prevention and detection. The Mole Patrol will offer free skin cancer screenings.

I’ll be one of the first in line to have my neck inspected. Yes, my neck.

Ever since I started working at Moffitt, I think everything that’s wrong with me is cancer.

This dry, flaky, itchy patch of skin on my neck (it looks like a hickey) has been aggravating me for the past two weeks. It looks almost like a small, circular sunburn. It radiates from a small mole.

Cancer. Or so I hope to disprove.

The game starts at 1:15, but the Mole Patrol will be available starting at 11.

If you can’t make it to visit the Mole Patrol this weekend, you’ve got seven more opportunities to get checked out.

Here’s the Mole Patrol spring training schedule (screenings start two hours before game time):

Thursday, March 13, 1:05 p.m.: Rays v. Red Sox (Fort Myers, City of Palms Park)

Saturday, March 15, 1:10 p.m.: Cardinals v. Mets (Port St. Lucie, Tradition Field)

Tuesday, March 18, 1:05 p.m.: Rays v. Phillies (Clearwater, Bright House Networks Field)

Saturday, March 22, 1:05 p.m.: Twins v. Cardinals (Jupiter, Roger Dean Stadium)

Tuesday, March 25, 1:05 p.m.: Rays v. Blue Jays (Dunedin, Knology Park)

Friday, March 28, 1:05 p.m.: Rays v. Reds (St. Petersburg, Progress Energy Park)

Saturday, March 29, 1:05 p.m.: Rays v. Reds (Sarasota, Ed Smith Stadium)
