It is already Thursday of week one. I feel great. I started the week off slow because of a lingering cold. But I am on the right road.
The weight loss participants have access to a dietitian, Sheila Dean. She sent me a meal plan for the week with a lot of don’ts. Now I know myself better than anyone. I know I am ready to do what I need to do to make smarter choices and to become healthy. I also know I can not make a 180 turn. I do not have the will power or whatever you want to call it to completely change in one day. Did you know one of the t.v. guru’s said that “food is the only addiction you can not separate yourself from!”? How true is that statement!
I have opted to take her plan and modify it to what can work for myself and my family. I am incorporating green salads everyday. I am cutting down on my carb intake. I am drinking the green tea but still using Splenda instead of sugar or honey. I am snacking on yogurt, fresh fruit, and pretzels. I am eating more meals a day and I am eating breakfast. Beginning Sunday I will modify my diet more. I have to make changes I can live with and that I will maintain. Otherwise I set myself up for failure.
My challenge to all of you out there reading our blogs is to start today and make five small changes in your diet. Write it down as a promise to yourself. You are reading this on the computer. Open up a blank page and type it up. Today I will start with drinking less sodas (including diet sodas - just because it says diet doesn’t mean it is good for you), I will incorporate more fruit and salads in my diet. I will try a new recipe that is healthy for myself and my family. I challenge you today. Good Luck and join me and my weight loss buddies for this exciting journey.

Lisa,
Congrats on being chosen for the Weight Loss Challenge. I was wondering if you could share your diet plan with us. What are some of the “Do’s and Don’ts” that Shila Dean recommends. I could use a booster in this area. Best of luck to the Women’s team.
