The Press suffered a huge loss this week.
Ferdie, who had some huge plays at first base last week, suffered a little mishap “sliding into second base.”
He actually tripped and slid, but we’ll call it sliding. He hurt both knees, drawing blood, and jammed his big toenail.
The orthopedic surgeon says his knees are OK, but the toenail is doomed. It’s gone from dark blue to gray to black.
Poor Ferdie has to undergo physical therapy for his knees.
Believe it or not, the doc says he sees quite a few kickball injuries. Who knew?
So this week, Ferdie has come to work wearing one dress shoe and one flip-flop. It was all he could do to wear anything on his foot.
(Yes, that’s blood oozing out of his sock. Gross.)
Unfortunately it’s a season-ending injury.
Mark suffered an injury this week from a mishap at second.
As a teammate threw the ball to Mark, it bounced off his foot and he tripped over the base. Ouch!
His shin will be paying the price.
Still, The Press will persevere.
