Pit bulls and pit bull mixes will get some special tutoring at 9 a.m. May 31 for the Canine Good Citizen test offered by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Tampa Bay. They can take the test at 11 a.m.
This program was designed by the American Kennel Club to reward dogs who have good manners. The SPCA hopes to certify Bay area pit bulls in hopes of changing stereotypes about the breed. Schedule an appointment for the test by going to www.spcatampabay.org or calling (727) 586-3591, ext. 167.
Testing costs $10; those who pass get an AKC certificate. The test will be held at SPCA Tampa Bay, 9099 130th Ave. N., Largo.
