ST. PETERSBURG—Cliff Floyd belted a home run to the deepest part of center field, giving the Rays a 5-3 lead over the Red Sox in the fourth inning tonight in Game 2 of the American League Championship Series at Tropicana Field.
Floyd’s blast went off the wall of the restaurant in center field, far above the reach of Boston center fielder Coco Crisp, who scaled the wall near the 404-foot sign in a vain attempt to make the catch.
It was the Rays’ seventh hit off Red Sox starter Josh Beckett. Three have been home runs and two more were doubles.
