Penny’s a Nurture And Hold (NAH): Nah, I won’t pull that out yet, it’s still got a green shoot. She likes dragonflies, lady bugs and new stuff only after weeding, pruning and fertilizing.
Kim’s a Want It Now (WIN): Everything pretty, everything now. She will resort to full-spectrum insecticides in desperate situations, and believes it’s her duty and right to buy new plants every weekend.
Both advocate Plant Choice (SOMEthing besides crotons. Please!), lots of color and low maintenance. We don’t agree on everything, but we’re smart enough to learn from each other - and from you.

Big garden projects are always worthy of applause, and FOD Chip has been working hard on building a garden shed for his daughter.
The obvious reaction is — when will you build one for me?
Just in case his family’s keeping him too busy for the rest of us (sigh, I just hate these one-woman men) here’s a little instruction and the big reveal!
First, Chip got lots of family members involved in pouring the concrete slab for the base. It’s too much for one person, he says.

He assembled/built the walls on the ground, then hoisted them into place.

“You will notice the lack of windows, electricity, water,” Chip says. “This was done for a reason. Without these things, legally it is considered a temporary structure and doesn’t need a permit.”
And here it is almost done. “Coat of paint, door knob and caulking still needed,” Chip writes.

Yes! You, too, can do this (Susan! ) With lots of friends, pizza and beer (after you’ve achieved shed, of course.) And someone who knows what they’re doing. … Hey, Chip …?

Shed looks great, Chip. I can just picture the cute potting bench you’ll make to place beside it
Penny, Is that your sweet almond bush? It is huge. I have a little one that is blooming away and smelling wonderful, but will it be that big? Oh my, I may have put it in the wrong spot. Kay

Thanks Kay! this is just a basic shed, plain Jane I built it with the Idea of adding on later. The concrete slab was the only thing I was worried about there was no way I was doing it alone. But everyone really pitched in, our daughter was the biggest surprise [shes a girlie girl] she put her heart into it and was a big help. I am so proud of all of them I needn’t have worried at all..“Chip”

Beautiful, Chip. You did an awesome job. It’s going to be so cute when you have it all painted up. Unfortunately most of my friends are girly girls like me who wouldn’t know where to start on a project like this. And I sooo want windows. Ha! No spider surprises in the dark, ya know.
Penny, I saw a blue sky flower this morning on my rounds. Woohoo!

Way to go, Chip! Your hard work certainly paid off. The shed looks like the perfect size for your daughter to store all her gardening tools and necessities. (Yeah, now I have a little shed envy.) Thanks for sending the photos.
Glad to hear that you got a blue sky bloom, Susan! I bought mine at Greenfest and have been waiting for blooms since then. Do you or Penny know how long they bloom once they start? I’ll have to take a closer look at mine tonight…

That’s right, Penny. The blue sky bloomed from Fall till the freeze. So who knows how long it’s supposed to last if it isn’t cruelly cut down in it’s prime.

Chip, The garden shed looks great. What color are you going to paint it? I need to tell Mr.Grumpy I need a garden shed. Pumpkin

4 blooms, Yay! It won’t be long now. I didn’t know susan would do well in a desert. Both the blue sky and susan are no fuss vines. I don’t need to water them when it’s dry like some of the more finicky plants. Just a haircut in the spring and it’s good to go with some left over to share with friends.

As ironic as it sounds I have shed envy myself, they don’t allow sheds here. Thanks everyone! and I lost track the kids are still debating on colors staining it instead the last I heard tomorrow who knows? Pumpkin if Mr. Grumpy builds you a shed I bet it will be the Mack daddy shed of all time! I am looking over potting bench layouts just because I know that’s next! ...“Chip”

A shed AND a potting bench? I am visibly weeping. Your daughter must thank her lucky stars she got you, Chip, for a daddy.
Speaking of stars——there’s a meteor shower Thursday night, late, around 11:00PM. That’s always fun to stay up for.

Penny and Susan, thanks for the info on the blue sky vine. I’m still searching for a bloom or two but maybe tonight…
The meteor shower would be a cool thing to see - if I can stay awake!
Did you ever get blooms on your orange cosmos “tree,” Penny?
