Break Points: Water Cooler Talking Points
Dear TLC, Please Cancel ‘Jon & Kate’

A marriage and viewers were put out of their misery last night when Jon and Kate Gosselin announced their marriage was over. Thank heavens, we’ve gotten that out of the way.

Now we can move on to more product placement and reality TV show crossovers.

Seriously, who thinks the ‘oh woe is me’ couple paid for those crooked houses that were shown being delivered last night?

And Jon lamenting last night about how he’s sad and “excited” about his future?  And how maybe someone will offer him a job. Gimme a break. Here’s a suggestion, get your butt off your Orange County Chopper (and out of the local bar) and go apply for a job. What a concept, huh?

And last night, Kate sounded as if she was bucking for a job at the United Nations. She just wants peace in the family. Peace, peace, peace. Seems to me some of the confrontations off camera (or delicately edited out) must have been pretty intense considering some of her caustic remarks over the years have made my hair stand on end—kinda like hers does in the back. All the time. (BTW, TMZ had a funny line about that today ... “After a breakup, some people buy new clothes or completely change their hairstyle. Hopefully Kate is one of those people.”)

Wish I’d thought of that.

Anyway, apparently the show is going on “hiatus” until the family situation settles down. I know it is a ratings cash cow, but TLC should do the right thing and end this charade. God knows, Jon & Kate won’t.
