It was a sad day for me at Publix yesterday.
All week long I’ve been looking for my soy milk. Yes, I drink soy. Does it really surprise you?
I’m lactose intolerant, and regular milk is no good for me. I thought my world would end without milk.
Then I timidly gave soy a try. Turns out that I love it!
I’ve always been able to find my favorite brand, 8th Continent, at the Bayshore Publix. I go for Light Vanilla when it’s in stock. There’s also original and chocolate.
That has been a tall order.
I’ve been to Publix about 17 times during the past week, and none is in stock. “We should get a shipment tomorrow,” the stockers would tell me.
Then I made a horrifying discovery ...
Silk products had completely overrun the 8th Continent shelves in the dairy case. There was no 8th Continent product label showing any trace of its existence.
What am I going to do?
I can’t find 8th Continent at the Dale Mabry Publix or the Sweetbay near me (although it might be a while before I venture to Sweetbay with my debit card again).
If you see 8th Continent at a grocery store near you, give me a shout. I’m in withdrawal.

The parent company of this brand sold the entire brand to another company due to declining sales. It is being reformulated and re packed in a box like other soy milks and will be launched again. This may take awhile so you may want to start trying other soy milks.
