I’m always seeking out new beauty treatments to help me look and feel younger.

Whether it’s for sagging skin or wrinkles, acne or hyperpigmentation; I’ll try it—or at least beg for a sample.

It seems the latest product aimed at reducing wrinkles is a chemotherapy drug called flouroracil. Scientists have discovered the drug, which is also marketed to patients with precancerous skin lesions also, seems to be effective at reducing wrinkles and improving overall skin tone and texture.

A study published by the Archives of Dermatology, revealed the product was mostly well-tolerated by most participants, all of whom had a condition known as actinic keratoses (precancerous lesions due to sun damage).

After two months, there were differences in facial wrinkle reduction, ranging from “mild” to “much” improvement. About 75 percent of the subjects expressed significant satisfaction with the product which contained 5% flouroracil as a skin cream. Many were so pleased with the results that they would be willing to use this product again.

Flouroracil is marketed under the brand name Efudex and is available by prescription only.

If there are any physicians who want to offer the cream up for reviews, the Beauty Board is ready, willing and able.
