I lOVE shapewear. But if you’ve ever tried to go out in a girdle in the middle of summer, you’ve probably ripped it off your body within seconds while spewing very unladylike language (I’ve done it manytimes).
For most of us, shapewear and comfortable don’t go together. Shapewear is a word that implies discomfort to just about all of us women. To most of us fashion shoppers, it means that we are trying to ‘smooth bulges’, squeeze into a favorite outfit, or both.
In a recent survey, nearly half of women revealed they don’t wear shapewear because they think it will be extremely uncomfortable. One in 10 said they shy away from it because they think people will be able to tell they’ve got it on. And, there’s also the dreaded reveal at the end of an evening when you have to take it off in front of your significant other…..can we say awkward?
But experts say it’s worth giving it another shot. Shapewear has come a long way and there are a lot more styles and levels of control to choose from.
Yummie Tummie (I wrote about it for 4-You and TBO) is one of my favorites because it holds you in and smooths you out without making you go into cardiac arrest. And I’m sure there are others out there that will make you look amazing in your clothes without making you self combust.
