Wake up. Throw on some clothes. Get out to the barn.
The animals need to be fed and watered. Need to make sure they're OK, and relatively happy.
Cows, chickens, rabbits, pigs: Champions in training can be demanding.
Some like to be brushed; others spook easily. Some like to play; others think they're in charge.
Being the best isn't easy. But it's what drives these teens - that, and their animals.
You'll find stories behind every pen at Tampa Bay's agricultural fairs. Come along as we follow the stories of several teens preparing for the 2007 fair season.

Time is really flying now: only 20 or so days left ‘til fair. I am working very hard on my record book. It has been hard ‘cause it is confusing in places.
Cleo has continued to gain weight, and I think she looks good. I put hay in her pen Monday afternoon to help her stay warm during the cold night.
Dixie and Cleo have been barn friends since the beginning. That has been one of the best things about raising a hog for my first year is making friends with the others down here that are raising hogs and other animals as well. It is sad to see some of the animals that don’t get taken care of like they should.
My grades are going up, and I am working hard to keep them there.
I hope everyone will come out to the fair and see all of the animals being shown. The hog show is Saturday, Feb. 24th 2007 at 8 am, and the sale is the same day at 6 pm.
