Last night, there were lots of awards handed out at the 2009 Emmy Awards. But I’m usually more focused on the fashions than the actual awards. And last night was no exception. The following are some of the dresses I found to be particularly noteworthy.
First up, EVA LARUE

I like everything about this dress: the color, the style, the fit really flatters LaRue. I really love the rusching alond the bodice of the dress and the sequined along the neckline. This dress was dazzling.
BLAKE LIVELY

This young starlet looked smoking hot in this sexy red plunging number. For her age, and the occasion, this dress was flattering and modern. Now, about that ponytail…
TINA FEY

Just because she’s a comic genious, doesn’t mean she has to dress like one. This black gown is elegant and sophisticated. You go Tina!
The not quite winners:
KYRA SEDWICK

This dress probably looked really good on the hangar, but it reminds me of a dress a friend’s mother wore to her wedding (And that’s not a compliment). I like the color, but the ruffle on the shoulder and the appliques make it look like a bridesmaid dress you never want to wear again.
KATE LINDER

Kate, Kate, Kate. This dress doesn’t flatter her figure and the color completely washes her out. Her stylist should have intervened on this one.
Hayden Panettiere

Yes, this is a beautiful dress; It just doesn’t work on Hayden. She’s all of what, 19? The hair and the dress make her look like she’s trying to play dress-up. This look is wayyyyy too much dress for a girl like Hayden. If she waits a few years, she’ll be able to carry off a look like this.
