The animals need to be fed and watered. Need to make sure they're OK, and relatively happy.
Cows, chickens, rabbits, pigs: Champions in training can be demanding.
Some like to be brushed; others spook easily. Some like to play; others think they're in charge.
Being the best isn't easy. But it's what drives these teens - that, and their animals.
You'll find stories behind every pen at Tampa Bay's agricultural fairs. Come along as we follow the stories of several teens preparing for the 2007 fair season.
Ryann Butler, 16, Tampa
Garth is getting bigger and bigger everyday. He is about 230 lbs. now and will reach about 265 lbs. by fair time in February. He’s such a BEAST! Since I live in the suburbs in Tampa, Garth stays at my school’s land lab. I have to go to my school every day - yes, even on weekends - to feed and clean Garth’s pen. It takes a lot of commitment for a such (a) time-consuming responsibility to raise a pig. It’s a lot of fun and hard work that will definitely pay off in February at the fair.

WOW garth :]] what a cutie hes gorgeous with his color and what not! hes going to be amazing at the fair! but hes only in it for the biscuts!!!
