Before recessing court as we wait for the next prosecution, Judge Ric Howard whispered to a staff attorney, “We may get this today.”
Prosecutor Ric Ridgway is still noncommital about whether they’ll call a witness in the morning. If they don’t call that witness, it’s possible closing arguments could begin later this afternoon.
During the extended morning break, the defense team has set up a makeshift war room in the courthouse’s first floor cafeteria. All Couey’s attorneys are there, conferring with their expert psychologist, Robert M. Berland.
At a table about 30 feet away, Jessie’s grandparents sat.
