rasberry Gribbles here again.  My fellow Floridians, I need some feedback.  Has anyone read my post on my prepardness?  Am I too extreme.  All windows are borded here in Sarasota.  All tubs are full of water.  I just hope its not too dirty from the dog jumping in by time Wilma gets here.  Galloshes are on, body bags ready to be filled.  I’m ready to go and make most look like fools for not preparing.  My neighborhood bullies spray painted words on my plywood I can’t repeat.  I got a gallon bucket today and mixed up tunafish and mayonaise for the weeks to come.  I hope it doesn’t spoil.  Help me out please, am I too ready????? confused

I am waiting to see a more definitive path on this one.... it looks as though I will be north of the storm, and in that case, out of the way of harm. Anything south of it is the danger zone.
Tell those people with no manners: Chivalry is not dead!!!

We need to prepare, who really knows? but is better to be prepared or at least try our best. We should all stay in and follow the recommedations given for everybody’s sake. Let’s be patience and good to one another and things won’t be so bad. In situations like this is when we need to be the better person and not become part of the problem. You claim to be the good citizen well this is your chance to prove it. Show respect and consideration to your neighbor. Don’t panic, We’ll be ok.

I am a mom of 2 little ones and a wife. I am not really concerned with this hurricane.  It doesn’t look like it is going to hit anywhere near here.  My husband on the other hand, completely freaks out everytime there is a hurricane anywhere.  Until I see a path projected that shows one coming right at us, I am happy to just go about life as usual (except grocery shopping for my family, that is a nightmare. There are sooo many people buying up everything, that I can’t get normal groceries that we need for the next week) Please everyone calm down in the Tampa/Z-hills area.  This one too shall pass.

Last year I stayed home in my manufactured
house for all 3 hurricanes. This year i’m staying home again!

My family and I are planning to stay in Tampa during the storm.  Wilma is taking her time deciding on where she wants to go.  We don’t know exactly what we’re going to do.

Posted by  Allyson Dubois, St Pete Beach on 10/21  at  02:43 PM

I have a vision that this isn’t going to be too bad for the Tampa area.  It will pass south of us as a minor blow and a lot of rain.  We’ll all be okay up here?

Posted by  EC, Tampa on 10/21  at  02:38 PM

Hhhhmmm, prepared?  Got some water, booze, and playing cards.  I’m staying home.  It’s hilarious to see the entire city running around like little ants....we have 2 more days people.  And for the lady I saw buying like 50 gallons of water?  People like you are the ones that create chaos.  If people got only what they NEED, then others wouldn’t be left with nothing.  Stop freaking out people, you’re making it worse… cool grin

Posted by  LL, CLEARWATER BEACH on 10/21  at  02:07 PM

We’ve stocked up and are ready. Luckly we live in a newly constructed quality built condo. We’re staying.

Wiiilllmmmaaa!  Leave those people alone and get my Brontosaurus burger on the table!

Posted by  KMC, Hernando on 10/21  at  01:25 PM

Oh my goodness, I am so sick of hearing everyone complain about everyone else. Oh how I hate the northerns or how I hate the ones that live on the beach.. Sounds like they are the ones with all the problems, they are just wishing they had their lives, instead of their crummy life.. Anyways I think alot of people dont prepare well guess what to bad for them.....

I appreciate the continuing weather coverage from media.  We are still deciding whether or not to evacuate, but we are going to prepare. it’s better to get prepared than to not do what you can to be safe.

I just finished my last will and testament and have an appointment with a funeral director later today.  After what I saw in New Orleans I am taking no chances.  I think it’s our turn for the big one.  God has spared us long enough and it’s our time to be sent back to the stone ages.  It’s going to blow right up Tampa Bay and level all the tall buildings.  We’re all going to die and I’ll be prepared.  Heck, I have no wife, kids or faily anyway, so who cares if we all die.  I’m ready to go.  I already bent over and kissed my butt goodbye.

Goodbye cruel world.  Later Florida.

PS:  I’ll be back to work on Tuesday if I din’t die.  Thanks.

My biggest fear is are we REALLY ready? We have some supplies (canned food, batteries, water--but enough?) We don’t really know what to make of Wilma.  What is it going to do? Do the forecasters REALLY KNOW?? They thought they did with charley, too, and Punta Gorda found out differently so when I look at the current track, don’t know what to think!  We don’t live in an evacuation area, but then a Cat 4 or 5 storm is pretty darn bad.  At the moment we’re planning to stay around and see what it does. They keep pushing landfall back, too, which adds to the stress of everything else.

We plan to go out and pick up a few extra things tonight, just to be safe. As someone said, it’s stuff that will be used eventually.

Good luck to anyone reading this in so. FL!!!  And good luck to those of us that live in the Tampa area, too, that it doesn’t change tracks and come our way.....God Bless.

Yes I’m getting ready although I’m not sure where it is going along with everyone else.

Steve is their any way you can put a vipor model on this site? After last year and also this year I for one have become very secure with it’s perdictions.

I would like to thank the storm team for all your hard work tired eyes tell all.

At the end of the day, this will be just a wet weekend.. lots of rain, a little wind and another over-cautious govt. causing unnecessary alarm and panic.

Posted by  BLANCA R., MIRAMAR, FL on 10/21  at  10:50 AM

I’m here. Working. And worrying about Wilma.  I have no shutters and no supplies, but this will be my last year of hurricane season without shutters or supplies. We are in an area were hurricanes are so common as sunshine, heat and rain. No more…
Before hurricane season start next year, I’ll be prepared, promise…
I hope Wilma, if finally hit us, will be category 1 at that time, or even better, will vanish. Crossing my fingers and praying to God…

Posted by  Dee, Haines City, Florida on 10/21  at  10:50 AM

I would love to prepare, unfortunately, we have approximately $50 to last us until next.  So do we go blow it on a bunch of stuff we may not need right now or hold onto it so we will have gas money to get to work next week?

Posted by  Michelle, Tampa on 10/21  at  10:35 AM

mad Wilma has certainly not brought out the best in everyone.  While waiting in line at a local coffee place in Tampa this morning, a distinguished-looking gentleman joined the line behind me.  After less than a minute, he brushed past me, cut the line ahead of me and another man claiming, “I am just getting coffee, do you mind?” before doing just that. I guess the concept of “ladies first” went out with saying “please” and “excuse me.” Perhaps it would do our city good to stop thinking we are more important than everyone else and start appreciating what we have.

big surprise OH! My! What are we going to do?  I just found out that there is a hurricane..  I better stock up on candles./ snake

Posted by  Mikey P, Palm Harbor, FL on 10/21  at  09:05 AM

cool smile  We’re going to stick it out, doesn’t look like we’ll get hit too hard.  I think a lot of people are over-reacting in the Tampa area.  But I guess it’s better to over-react than under.

Posted by  Tina, Saint Petersburg on 10/21  at  07:56 AM

confused I just wish these weather people would all get together and show where we are.  one map shows up in the cone and near the storm another map shows up out of the cone and nothing coming.  I am tired of watching the weather channels.  we live in a mhp and didnt evacuate last yr for all 4 but if this is coming near us I think we will.  I am just tired of waiting until someone figures out what to do.  Don’t these people realize it can/will change at the last minute.  I will just wait till I get off work saturday to see how close it is then make a decision.  anyone know if its comin near us or what?

Posted by  Saddened by the NASTY comments!, Sebring on 10/21  at  07:51 AM

I am in disbelief over the ignorance and demeaning attitudes of some of these comments. I live in Sebring which is highly populated by retiries and am embarrassed by the ugly comments! These “northerners” bring a great deal of money to this state, and probably provide jobs for several of these people that are making the nasty comments. There is a proverb that says that being quiet and saying nothing is most often better than opening your mouth and showing your stupidity. What happened to compassion and kindness? You will be one of these elderly people one day and I hope no one treats you the same.

My ever loving husband spent last night assuring our daughter that the storm’s not going to hit our area (Zephyrhills) at all.  I don’t know that.  Yes, I’m ready.  As ready as I can be.  I spent yesterday restocking our emergency supplies.  Today I fill the car and my hubby fills his truck.  And then we wait.  And see if our dog’s erratic behavior of the last few days means that Wilma is coming or not.  I think it does.  He doesn’t even think that it’s going to hit the state.  LOL  How nice to be so sure excaim  The one thing is - with a child, a big dog (50# or so) and a bird, where can we go?  We don’t have the money for a hotel.  No shelter will take us, and we are usually the go to place for our friends (here in Z’hills), we have decided to do just what we did last year… put down the storm shutters and hunker down and see what happens.
