“It’s Groundhog Day,†yells a bailiff as reporters and staffers begin filing into the courtroom Wednesday morning.
He’s referring to the 1993 comedy where Bill Murray plays a weatherman reliving the same day, over, and over, and over, and over, again.
We’re into day three of jury selection, with 103 potential jurors being interviewed; only 41 have made the cut to the second round.
Here’s the game plan for the day (the same as yesterday and Monday) – do the first interviews with as many prospective jurors as possible.
Tomorrow, the second round of questioning of jurors is expected to begin.
I’ll explain how that second round is supposed to work in a later post.
For now, we’re waiting until 9 a.m. to give more potential jurors time to show up. Apparently, 12 of those in today’s first group of 30 were late. Judge Ric Howard is giving them more time to arrive.
