My youngest daughter was so cute last night. She said “Mom, what do you like to eat for breakfast on the weekends?”
Uh-oh. I could see where this was heading! I quickly thought up something she and her older sister could make that would be edible so I wouldn’t have to choke something down with a huge smile on my face. “Muffins!” I said. There are several mixes in the pantry and the steps to bake them are well within their level of cooking expertise.
Not satisfied with that answer she countered “You sure you don’t like omelets?”
“Oh no, besides, we don’t have any eggs in the fridge.” I replied.
“But we have Egg Beaters!” she answered.
Damn!
So, after my hearty breakfast I hope they have some plans that are more easily digestible for the rest of the day. Here are some hints I hope they get:
Mothers Get In Free at the Florida Aquarium
Mothers Ride Free At The Railroad Museum
Sunday Stroll at Weedon Island
Have you seen our new series “10 Under $10”?
We offer suggestions for dates, things to do with little kids, mother’s day gifts and activities in St. Pete. More will be coming.

Here’s a movie my “friend” made me. Not sure if she is making fun of me or not. You be the judge.
Got this little goodie in my inbox:
Dunkin’ Donuts is making Tax Day a little more palatable for tax filers and coffee lovers by offering all customers a free donut with the purchase of any size cup of hot coffee on Tuesday, April 15 at participating restaurants nationwide including all Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando county locations.
Now, yours truly does not drink coffee. Never developed a taste for it I guess. But I know there’s alot of you out there that DO drink the stuff. Perhaps we can go together and you can give me YOUR donut?
Have a good time enjoying the great outdoors at the Earth Day Festival at Honeymoon Island. Admission is free (up to 8 people) with the $5 per car park fee.
There will be all sorts of “earth-friendly” activities to celebrate the day, like kayak races!

In my inbox today: “Celebrate the 20th anniversary of Tampa’s Lowry Park Zoo with discounted admission and special offers throughout the park in honor of the day the Zoo reopened its doors to the public in 1988! Admission to the Zoo on March 5 will be “2 tickets for $20*” (ages 3 & up, 2 and under are always free) with $2 specials in food, gift and rides. We know you’re busy, but if you need a jumbo pack of toilet paper or some Slim Jims, why not stop at one of the Dale Mabry locations and get one for your kids?
I did it years ago for my daughters, when they were about 3 and 1. A little outdated now that they are 11 and 9, but adorable keepsakes!
Got this press release in my inbox, sounds like fun…

Tomorrow is Friday and (sorry for the short notice!) Free Chicken Biscuit Day at Chik-Fil-A!!!
No soggy cereal for me.
Every customer gets one during breakfast hours, at participating locations. You may want to check that your neighborhood restaurant is one of the one’s on the wagon.
I heard on the radio recently that area Petco stores are having Valentine’s Day parties for their customers.
It sounds like something our spastic Jack Rusell Terrier Ashley would like. Especially the part about getting to decorate a “cookie.” There are also contests and giveaways.
It’s on February 9th at 2 p.m. , not on the actual holiday. So don’t miss out.
Please don’t look below and notice the date of my last post. I’m lame, I know.
But I am going to try and make it up to you with some seasonal suggestions. Maybe your new year’s resolution can be to forgive me?
They buried the lead in this Tampa Tribune story, as far as I am concerned: Library’s Web Safety Course Mandatory For Children.
In it, readers of the paper are advised that children under 18 who are wanting to use the free internet access at any Hillsborough County libraries will be required to take a 20 minute internet safety course first.
A great idea, in my book!
My girls have a laptop computer that they share. But it is in the kitchen (a very public place in our home) and it is password protected so that they must get permission to use it for anything. Plus, I speak frankly with them about internet safety and use examples from the news to drive home the point that they simply do not know what creeps are out there lurking.
They get it, they really do. But I still welcome another lesson from another source. We do not use the computers at the libraries, but I think a trip down there just for this purpose is in order…
AND, did you read in the last paragraph about the freebies?!
Everyone who completes the course gets some perks, including free tickets to Lowry Park Zoo, The Florida Aquarium, the Museum of Science & Industry and free stuff at area Waffle House restaurants
See you at the library!
