WTSP wins 7 Emmys; Mike Deeson honored

Veteran WTSP, Channel 10, reporter Mike Deeson was honored Saturday night with the Silver Circle Award by the Suncoast Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences at its annual Emmy Award Ceremony in Orlando.

The award recognizes individuals who have devoted a quarter of a century or more to the television industry. Deeson also won an Emmy for his reporting for 10 Connects.

The station collected seven Emmys: 10 Connects reporter Preston Rudie received three Emmys, one for On-Camera Talent – Sports, another for Sports – News Single Story or Series, and a third for Feature News Report. 10 Connects photojournalist Angela Clooney received two Emmys for her work on a sports feature. And 10 Connects Director of Photography Gene Yagle earned an Emmy for his work in Feature News Reports.
