The Cheap Seats - Scott Butherus

Views From The Cheap Seats: World Series Game 3

The Rays really needed this one. They didn’t get it. I need a solid eight hours of sleep. I probably won’t get that one either.

The Rays will likely have to face Cole Hamels in a critical situation depending on what happens tomorrow against Joe Blanton.

• What was that music that the Phillies’ public address team was playing in the background during the Rays introductions? We have come to expect such behavior from the fans, but from the Phillies organization?

• The rain was a much greater help to Jamie Moyer; think of it as mother nature’s spitball. Meanwhile, a juiced-up Matt Garza was trying to chuck the horsehide equivalent of a wet bar of soap.

• The stare down of J.P. Howell by Ryan Howard in the eighth inning didn’t have the intimidation factor that Howard intended. Don’t forget that Howell has made a name for himself facing off against the Big Papi sneer.
