If you’ve ever wandered the aisles at the video store or surfed the DVR pay-per-view options and seen a bunch of movies that you’ve never heard of, chances are John has watched them. Why? He loves movies. All kinds of movies. Good, bad, so-bad-they’re good, even the truly unwatchable ones. He mostly loves horror and science-fiction and drive-in exploitation movies that most upstanding model citizens wouldn’t dare watch. Then he writes up his thoughts so you can decide - watch, don’t watch or avoid at all costs. Sometimes he even gets to talk to the cool folks who make some of your favorite films.

Vampire Killers
Genre: Horror/Comedy
Directed by: Phil Claydon
Run time: 86 minutes
Rating: R
Format: DVD
The Lowdown: Trying to do for blood-drinkers what “Shawn of the Dead” did for zombies, “Vampire Killers” is a British import that falls short of that bar, but still is worth a watch.
Filled with insanely hot vampire chicks, this is a movie that delivers on the boobs, blood (white gooshy spooge, when the vampires are killed) and occasional laughs.
It’s not as consistently funny as “Shawn,” and it copies its predecessor a little too much with its socially awkward lead, his pudgy, obnoxious friend and their propensity for meeting at the pub for many pints.
It’s also an impressive return for director Phil Claydon, who fills his third directorial effort, and first in seven years, with an array of gorgeous visuals. “Vampire Killers” may drag in spots, and the humor may not always work, but it’s never boring to look at.
