If you’ve ever wandered the aisles at the video store or surfed the DVR pay-per-view options and seen a bunch of movies that you’ve never heard of, chances are John has watched them. Why? He loves movies. All kinds of movies. Good, bad, so-bad-they’re good, even the truly unwatchable ones. He mostly loves horror and science-fiction and drive-in exploitation movies that most upstanding model citizens wouldn’t dare watch. Then he writes up his thoughts so you can decide - watch, don’t watch or avoid at all costs. Sometimes he even gets to talk to the cool folks who make some of your favorite films.

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia: A Very Sunny Christmas
Genre: TV on DVD/Comedy
Created by: Rob McElhenney
Run time: 43 minutes
Rating: Unrated
Format: Blu-Ray
The Lowdown: How I missed this pitch-black, deranged comedy on cable’s FX channel, I have no idea.
Now in its fourth season, I have been glued to the misadventures of Charlie, Dee, Dennis and Mac, reveling in the twisted social commentary that “Seinfeld” should have been.
A bonafide cult smash, “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” has generated a rabid following that acts out specific episodes for public consumption. That’s right “The Nightman Cometh” fans, I’m talking about you.
For the uninitiated, this holiday special, “A Very Sunny Christmas,” is the perfect way to dive deep into the uncomfortable and outrageous hijinks of the clueless foursome from Philly.
This episode has it all: Dangerously funny holiday memories of being denied that perfect present, or having your dad break-in to a neighbor’s home to steal their gifts for you or worse, realizing your mom made herself the “milk and cookies” treat for any Santa who wanted to climb down her chimney.
There’s a bloody fistfight at the mall, a hysterical retelling of “A Christmas Carol” and a subversive attempt to right a wrong by returning a stolen gift more than 10 years later.
This is a new holiday classic that FX would be wise to run on repeat, much like TBS does with “A Christmas Story,” just in hopes of converting and alerting the masses to one of the best comedies to come along in years.
