Country singer and Fort Myers native Mindy McCready is among those seeking help from Drew Pinsky on the third season of “Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew,” which debuts at 10 p.m. Jan. 7 on VH1.
Also in the house getting detoxification and treatment will be Mackensie Phillips, Heidi Fliess, Tom Sizemore, Dennis Rodman, Lisa D’Amato, Mike Starr (Alice in Chains) and Joey Kovar (of “The Real World: Hollywood”).
McCready, 34, has seen her promising country music career crash and burn during years of alcohol and painkiller abuse, numerous arrests and several suicide attempts.
She had two hit albums before she was 20, but it’s been all downhill since then. In the summer of 2005, she was found unconscious in a hotel lobby in Indian Rocks Beach after attempting suicide. In September 2005, she attempted suicide for a second time. And there was a third attempt in 2008.
In 2008, it was disclosed that she had once had a long-term affair with baseball great Roger Clemens. In 2009, she was treated for a nervous breakdown.
