What are your thoughts on NBC’s new series, “The Book of Daniel,” its depiction of Jesus or the controversy surrounding it?

If I hold a press conference and say that Muslims and a host of other religions and religious leaders and persons are alchoholics, drug abusers, homosexuals and persecutors of Christians…you wouldn’t even hear me out… If I flush the Koran you will publish the story to send shock waves around the world. Question: Where is your disdain when my religion is attacked. So someone hires a producer and director and gets some sponsors and you call it entertainment instead of persecution. I don’t attack others or their religions and practices or lack of so don’t attack me or mine. Please realize that an NBC affiliate that claims to be unbiased not pro-homosexual and not anti-christian is letting its colors show and so is NBC!

I will not watch this piece of garbage! It is another slap in the face for the Christian community. The liberal media writers have really stepped over the bounds of good taste with this series. I have nearly stopped watching NBC, ABC, and CBS because their programming offends me during prime time hours. I haven’t watched the Today Show because of Katie Couric (America’s darling?!) I have other names for her and darling isn’t one of them. I could go on and on but you get the picture. I only watch your local newscasts because of Gayle and Bob and your top notch weather team. I can’t believe NBC is running this! Thanks for letting me vent!

Come on people! The show hasn’t even been ON YET. If you don’t like it, don’t watch it.

I knew when “The Passion of the Christ” made as much money as it did that Hollywood would do its best to cash in on the “Christian” market. Well sadly they have missed the mark…again! Instead of watching this excrement try reading the REAL Book of Daniel. It is a fascinating read and very pertinent to the times we live in. Nice try NBC but you missed the mark…and that’s being nice about it. I also have a message to all of the anti-Christian responders here: by your own words you shall be judged.

So you’re switching to Fox News? The guys who brought us Married…with Children, When Animals Attack, Joe Millionaire, Paradise Hotel…Oh yes, you devout Christian, you. Wack jobs! It’s called a V chip. Use it and quit whining.

From what I have heard about the Book of Daniel the series is very sacrereligious. It certainly doesn’t sound Biblical. We need more promotion of God’s word without change or alteration.
May God bless!!

I wonder how those that claim this is just art or just a TV show would react if NBC developed a sitcom around the life of some pre-civil war southerners and the fun they had abusing their slaves?? I think there open mindedness would quickly evaporate. Its only art or only a TV show when it doesn’t violate their views on whats PC. Otherwise, they’re the first in line to trample the first admendment.

How Would Everyone who is saying its just tv, like it if they made a series were they killed gays and ran arround in clan outfits and burned people on a cross, then people can say if you dont like the show just turn off the tv.

The television show is make believe just like the bible. I figured christians would love something not based on reality since you define yourselves by that. The bible is a tool, like the Koran and when taken to seriously people get hurt. Correct me if I am wrong but dont christians believe Dinosaurs are make believe. HAHA

Christianity simplified: “An invisible man in the sky made the universe. He needs ten percent of your money. Don’t question why, or look for reasons for your existence, or he will throw you in an eternal fiery pit. Do not ever ask to see your creator. You need to have faith in him, or else (see fiery pit). Proof is for heathen disbelievers. Don’t ask questions. Pass the collection plate, hallelujah, Sweet Jesus!!!”

LIGHTEN UP PEOPLE. WHY ARE YOU SO FEARFUL?
Por (DAVE) on January 06, 2006
I AM A DEVOUT CHRISTIAN AND DON’T FEEL PERSECUTED AT ALL. YOU WEREN’T OUTRAGED WHEN GEORGE BURNS PLAYED GOD IN THE COMEDY MOVIE. WHY IS THIS ANY DIFFERENT?
WHY DON’T YOU SPEND MORE TIME HELPING THE LESS FORTUNATE WITHOUT JUDGEMENT? OH AND EN"LIGHTEN” UP.
YOU MUST FEEL VERY INSECURE IN YOUR FAITH TO BE OUTRAGED BY THIS PROGRAM. THANK YOU NBC.
DON’T BACK DOWN. THESE RELIGIOUS HIPPOCRATES WHO OFFEND SO EASILY ARE NOT WHAT WE CHRISTIANS SHOULD BE ABOUT.
Por (Doug) on January 06, 2006
Wow .. the whackos are out in full force tonight.
Come on folks ... pick a real issue to get fired up over, not the fiction / folklore called Christianity (or any other religion that worships a god).
Give me a break.

I am simply shocked that this is even a topic for a believer or non believer. Back in the day people had more moral and respect for each other. All I have seen is a preview of this show and I was disturbed. WFLA in due respect to our Lord Jesus Christ (my personal saviour) if you decide to air this show which from what I have read that you have a choice. I will have to delete your channel from my tv. Not because of my so called LIL Faith in Christ but to protect my Family from such filth and sacreligious lies. I am sorry for the people that have voiced there opinions so harsh on the Saviour.Just to let you know he still loves you.And he did die on the cross for your SINS…Someday as you said and He said in his Word, the Bible you shall be JUDGED!
Por (Terry) on January 06, 2006
Get a grip people. It’s only a television show. If you don’t like it don’t watch it. It can’t be any worse than that other beacon of NBC hope - FEAR FACTOR!
Por (Faith equals laziness) on January 06, 2006
Hey Paul, I’ll take extra brimstone tonight, light on the fire. And give me some of that wool that the church has pulled over your eyes…it’s chilly, I could use a sweater.
Por (Julie) on January 06, 2006
I love this show…it’s a novel way to get people to see how God can help w/ all of the serious everyday problems that the world has…

As the daughter of an Anglican (Church of England and Canada/Episcopal) priest I find it interesting why folks are in such an uproar over a TELEVISION Show—even before its broadcast. I am watching the show—I don’t find it offensive. I certainly don’t think the show discredits the Episcopal or Roman Catholic Church…people are people…with real issues…I find Fr. Webster’s openmindedness, self-doubt and his “real-life” relationship with a real Christ refreshing. The viewers will determine whether or not this show continues.
Por (Steven Gellerstedt) on January 07, 2006
I watched the first hour of this show. The previews seemed to try and make it out as a comedy, but after watching some of it, I come away with the feeling that I just watched a normal, disfunctional American family. I grew up attending an Episcopal Church…and I swear I saw several of the people I grew up with in that show.
Por (Jeanne Jenkins) on January 07, 2006
I CANNOT believe all this hoopla over a television show!! It is just make-believe, so give me a break people! Don’t watch if you don’t want to. Personally, I thought it was okay. But, I don’t think it has staying power. Just my opinion. Thanks
Por (Chris) on January 07, 2006
I don’t understand what the big deal is now. Look, there is nothing out there that doesn’t offend SOMEONE, but the people it offends need to get a grip! Yeah, so they have the freedom to try to ban a TV show, uhhh, sorry, does that make you feel really important? If you don’t like the show, turn the channel, if you wanna get in an uproar about something, why don’t you start with something less…oh i dunno….useless! Try fighting against world hunger or something, as for the TV, if you don’t like it, change the channel or (novel concept here) talk to your kids about it! Leave the rest of us who don’t get offended when the chicken crosses the road or Jesus goes for a car ride alone!
Por (more faith than a show could shake) on January 07, 2006
I did watch the show and saw a normal american family with its problems and inperfections. It actually was kind of a good perspective to see a church leader faced with the same temptations that every day life presents all of us and that voice of reason ( personified by Jesus on the show) giving some advice on getting through them.
If you are strong in your faith, a mere TV show is not going to anger and offend you because you know the truth.
I found the show a whole lot less offensive than “desperate housewives” but of course no one watches that show.
Get real. Live your life as the example and control your own TV. If a show offends you - most of us have 150 other channels to watch .
Por (maggie) on January 07, 2006
You wonder what all the hoopla is about? The title depicts something from the Bible when in fact it is not, this is deceitful and misleading. We should be looking to God not making fun of His Love, Mercy and Grace.
Satan is mightly at work here through the media.
