Survivor: Fiji—- 04.05.07 (aka Queen of Denial)

The men on Ravu have the hidden immunity idol on their mind as this week’s Survivor (CBS) begins. Lisi has shared clues from her visit to Exile Island and Alex and Edgardo decide to share this info with Mookie. The three macho men dig furiously while oblivious Dreamz and lazy Lisi are sawing logs. And lo and behold – Mookie uncovers it! The sneaky trio decide to keep this idol out of Lisi’s clutches and the knowledge out of Dreamz tiny little mind, since his childlike honest will no doubt lead him to blurt it out to buddy Cassandra by the merge. This time unlike Earl and Yao-Man sharing the power and knowledge of the Idol for Moto, there are three people in the know. Hmmm. Can’t exactly divide it into three and Mookie tells us privately that he considers the Idol rightfully his since he technically found it. (Never mind all of the digging his buddies did to help him uncover it.) Something tells me that there is going to be a battle over that baby somewhere down the line.

It’s time for this week’s Reward Challenge. A group of four native dancers stops in to Moto to show them the proper way to dance.  They later visit Ravu to show the bulky men how to move. Lisi ticks off one of the native men and it’s not a surprise given her usual whiny demeanor. Teams will be competing against each other and winner gets a big feast. Teams will be judged by authenticity and their spirit while performing the dance.

Yao-man sits out the “So You Think You Can Dance?” challenge since he admits he has no rhythm. Moto goes first and Earl completely gets into the challenge. His buddies behind him accompany him nicely. Ravu has the disadvantage of muscle but no rhythm. Lisi’s thumping the ground like a member of Heart. They do etter than expected, but Alex doesn’t know the moves and they look more like a caricature of the real dancers than Moto. Dreamz does an interesting backflip at the end but clearly the first group is better. Let’s see what Fiji’s own Randy, Paula and Simon have to say. Their spokesperson says that the teams did equally well with costume and spirit. So it came down to coordination and accuracy of the moves. Moto blew Ravu out of the water. They enjoy their feast with glee and send Ravu’s Lisi packing to Exile Island. Ravu just goes home to their barren beach without food. Lisi is weeping in the storm and desolation of Exile Island. She’s contemplating quiting and something tells me that she just might. Hmm. That would sure screw up Survivor Pools everywhere.

Back on Moto—- post-feast—- Earl and Michelle are discussing possible targets should they go to Tribal Council. They agree that Stacy is too much of a question mark and she will clearly be their top choice for elimination. Alex and the guys at Ravu get their tribal mail and they receive an arrow in the mailbox. Clearly, it will be an archery competition. Hmmm. I see Ravu possibly having an advantage due to their strength, but sometimes it’s not about muscles.

Teams meet up for the immunity challenge. Cassandra sits out for Moto. Teams will play three rounds – one with blow darts, another with spears and the last with a bow and arrow. After a close battle with blow-darts, Moto wins the first round by Boo’s big bulls-eye. The spear competition is much harder for everyone but Moto’s Yao-Man throws his spear while running and hits the board soundly close to the bulls-eye. Moto is up three to nothing. Teams start shooting arrows and most can’t even make the target. Michelle and Yao-Man hit the board and they’re two of the only people to do so and once again, thanks to Yao-Man’s awesome understanding of physics and terrific hit, Moto wins the third and final round. They destroy Roto and win immunity yet again. Ravu will be sending another person home again. Man, this team stinks, regardless of which players are on it. Maybe it’s something with the name. Does “ra vu” mean “you lose” in their native tongue?

To me, there’s only one obvious choice for Ravu: drop Lisi. But I’m a little worried for Dreamz. He’s made it clear that he’s tight with Cassandra and Alex and Edgardo have already recognized that this could be a very bad thing when the tribes merge. Could they be foolish enough to keep Lisi and drop strong, resilient, pleasant Dreamz compared to cranky, crabby Lisi. She moans to Alex that she wants to quit and breaks down yet again. She basically asks the guys to vote her out, so there doesn’t appear to be any suspense with tonight’s ending, right? Maybe not. While Dreamz is talking about not even bringing his bags to Tribal Council tonight, Lisi is already having second thoughts. She pulls his buds Alex and Edgardo aside and suggests they vote out Dreamz instead. Man, this woman is insane. That would stink if they voted out Dreamz. He’s a good kid and offers some real strength and endurance. Lisi just complains, changes her mind, antagonizes others—- she has got to go.

During the Tribal Council, Lisi and Dreamz bicker about who’s tougher and who gives it their all. Dreamz even puts her on he spot and asks point blank if she wants to stay in the game. She can’t give a straight answer. It’s one of the most amusing conversations in the game so far this season. Dreamz is far too entertaining to go home. It will just be horrible if they decide to keep Lisi and get rid of Dreamz. His intensity and talk of being a warrior that never quits is worrying me. But when it comes to vote time – they don’t even have to read all of the votes. Lisi the not-so-lovable loser is heading to the jury box to hang out with James “Rocky” Reid.

At the end of the show, we hear Lisi’s final words and she hammers her old “friends” and tribemates for being losers and calling them worth nothing. She is one to talk. They’re on the other side of the jury box, aren’t they, Lisi-lu?

What did you think of tonight’s show? I thought the challenges were interesting. It was nice to finally see something different that didn’t involve solving puzzles or swimming or running through an obstacle course. Next week, it appears the tribes will be merging but is it possible the producers will place this newly formed tribe on Exile Island? Eek! Stay tuned…
