Stephen Colbert exposes NBC’s fake fireplace

Comedy Central satire king Stephen Colbert is in Vancouver to be a part of the Olympics by taping his show there and last night he had a blast with NBC’s Bob Costas during the late-night wrap-up of Olympic coverage.

After a tongue-in-cheek interview, Colbert got out of his chair and walked into the fireplace behind Costas.  It’s fake. It’s a video of a fire.

“You know, it’s the authenticity that I really appreciate about NBC” he said.

Colbert has pulled a lot of gags while in Vancouver. He’s been spotted wearing a red jacket with “assistant sports psychologist” on it.

The host of “The Colbert Report” is also a major sponsor of U.S. Speedskating after its main sponsor went bust. Colbert’s fans donated more than $300,000 to the program.
