The new Doctor Who (Matt Smith) makes his American debut in April. BBC America announced that a new season of the BBC sci-fi drama, “Doctor Who,” will debut April 17, soon after the UK broadcast.
Some might see a resemblance to “Twilight” hunk Robert Pattinson. I don’t think Doctor Who has ever been a hunk.
BBC America’s highest rated series is able to reinvent itself with new lead actors. Smith is the eleventh actor to play the Time Lord. He has a new travelling companion, Amy Pond (Karen Gillan).
Smith replaces David Tennant, who didn’t want to spend the rest of his career in the role. Tennant is arguably the most popular Doctor Who since Tom Baker in the 1960s.
