A controversial drama being developed for NBC is going to NBC-owned Telemundo.
“Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso” ("Without Breasts, There Is No Paradise") will debut in June on the Spanish language network.
The drama is based on a best-seller by Gustavo Bolivar and based on real events. It follows a 17-year-old prostitue who wants breast implants to make her more desirable to customers. Telemundo announced the drama at its upfront today in New York.
NBC has been trying for two years to develop a English version for the network but the title alone sent up red flags. A version of the story aired on Columbian television in 2OO6.
Telemundo Communications Group president Don Browne called the program, which will debut June 16, “constructively provocative” and predicted that it will create conversations about teen-agers having their breasts enhanced.
