-Some interesting Indy 4 news: Steven Spielberg apparently wants the new film shown on 35mm film projectors exclusively.
Paramount is informing theaters that “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” will NOT be available in digital format when it drops May 22.
Most new theaters use digital projection systems, thanks, ironically, in no small part to Spielberg’s buddy George Lucas and his green-screen revolution.
Will this relegate “Indy 4” to the mustier movie houses of the 20th century?—not necessarily. Most new theaters still have film projectors lying around.
-The “Garfield Minus Garfield” project removes the famous cat from every panel of the comic, leaving only his owner, Jon Arbuckle, alone with his words and actions, which take on a whole new light in the absence of his friend.
The project has garnered a lot of attention, remarking on, among other things, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, loneliness and the empty desperation of modern life—fun stuff!
-Staying in the world of comics-redundancy, The Penny Arcade Remix Project features scans of the comic strip with text bubbles filled in by Japanese students learning English which are much funnier than the originals.
- Here’s a refreshing, journalistic piece about the console war at next-gen.biz which asserts that the Xbox 360 is doomed to fail despite its many attributes because of the flawed Microsoft business model.
