The celebrity Web site RadorOnline is reporting that former pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan wants to become the next Billy Mays.

Tampa area celebrity Terry ‘The Hulk’ Bollea has signed on to pitch PumMaX – a biodegradable pumice-based hand cleanser that will be marketed by Clearwater-based infomercial king Kevin Harrington’s H & H Imports, Inc.

In a news release from H & H, Harrington says “I have known Terry (a/k/a Hulk Hogan) for many years and we have often spoken about what a tremendous fit his talents would be in the direct response industry. He has worldwide recognition and his energy and his enthusiasm are contagious… a great combination for success in our industry. We are delighted that he chose us to launch this new aspect of his long and exceptional career.”

According to H & H,  the company will produce direct response television shows of varying lengths to promote the worldwide distribution of the product line. Hogan has also agreed to appear on live shopping networks and at various live appearances (at major retailers and other venues) to help drive retail sales of the PumMaX line of products and to otherwise promote the brand, on a worldwide basis.

The company hopes to begin testing the shows by the end of the month.

Harrington, who has appeared as a judge on ABC’s “Shark Tank,”  credited with having launched or “discovered” the direct response television careers of some of the most widely known ‘pitchmen’ in the history of the direct response industry.

Hogan’s attorney David Houston told RadarOnline.com that Hogan was a product promoter in the 1990s in commercials for Right Guard.

Mays, who died in June 2009, made his name by pitching a string of household products such as Orange Glo and OxiClean.  “We all agree that he certainly has some big shoes to fill as far as Billy Mays is concerned, but I don’t think that any of us doubt that he has the ability to do it,” Hogan’s lawyer Radar.
