I have always been a fan of coupons. I am an even bigger fan of double coupons!
But, like a mythical creature, they never seem to be spotted around here.
Until this past Sunday, that is.
I was going through the Sunday paper, making my piles: discard and review. Coupons, CVS sale flyers and Target flyers automatically go in “review.” Some of the others I have to think a moment about before I decide. Walgreens is one of those.
Some of the others automatically have gone in the “discard” heap. K-mart, until this past weekend, was one of those.
I haven’t shopped in one in years. There’s not a convenient location for me, and even if I did drive there, I wasn’t that crazy about their merchandise.
But a huge portion of their sale ad screamed “DOUBLE COUPON DAYS.”
“Double coupons?!” I screamed to my mom across the state (she could hear me because we were on the phone together at the time.)
“Where?!” she screamed back.
To make a long story short, I am sorry I mentioned it because the K-marts in the community she lives are not participating. So I had to hear some grumbling about that.
The good news for coupon clippers in the Tampa Bay area is: it’s game on!
The offer is good for 7 days (or through Saturday November 1st) at participating K-marts. Coupons for values of up to $2.00 will be honored, no more than 75 coupons per customer.
I gathered up my stash and made a pilgrimage to the not-so-convenient location nearest me and turned my $20 worth of discounts into $40. Iwas disapointed that they didn’t carry some of the things that I wanted to redeem coupons for. But for the most part I was able to get a sizable amount of my weeky shopping done for not much money.
