This morning CBS announced its 2008-2009 fall lineup, featuring five new series — two comedies and three dramas — and the launch of a new comedy block on Wednesdays.
CBS also announced renewals for most of its series including some that were considered candidates for cancellation such as the Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ comedy “The New Adventures of Old Christine”, the sitcom “How I Met Your Mother.” and dramas “Without a Trace” and “The Unit.”
Canceled are the James Wood legal series “Shark” and the romantic vampire drama “Moonlight.”
The new series, coming in September, include:
“Eleventh Hour” a dramatic thriller from producer Jerry Bruckheimer about a special adviser to the government (Rufus Sewell) who investigates scientific crises and oddities.
“The Mentalist,” starring Simon Baker as a former celebrity psychic-turned- detective who uses his gifted skills of observation and expertise at “reading” people to solve crimes.
“The Ex List,” a sexy comedic drama about a 30-something woman (Elizabeth Reaser) who searches her past relationships to find her future husband.
“Project Gary,” a comedy starring Jay Mohr and Paula Marshall as dueling ex-spouses and parents trying to move forward with new relationships.
“Worst Week,” a comedy about a good guy who is always trying to do the right thing, yet something always goes wrong — especially when he’s around his girlfriend’s parents.
“The Rules of Engagement” returns at midseason.

Why in the world would you cancel a show that is doing well in the rating? Let me rate your shows as I am a single divorced professional woman, and I can give you an insight as to the single older female group. Just don’t cancel Moonlight.

I sure don’t know where you get your rating system but it is ridiculous!!! Why would you cancel Moonlight? Never fails, when the good shows are cancelled, other shows are replaced with “reality shows, or stupid game shows!!! I ask that you reconsider this. It makes me want to get rid of my TV. The world seems to like junk! When CBS realizes why they will be rated the lowest of all the stations, maybe then they will listen to the voices!

I can’t believe that CBS cancelled Moonlight.....with the writers strike in the fall it didn’t even give them a chance...I for one tuned in every Friday night to watch this show and I am very disappointed. I really enjoyed this show and it needs to have another chance.

Too bad they canceled Shark in favor of ridiculous shows that won’t last anyway. Seems like todays tv is aimed at the obscene, nasty and twisted humor and no longer entertaining. I buy more DVD’s these days and watch less tv.

Why dose it always seems that the best shows they always got seem to get canceled. Now that reality TV is in well I dont know what they call reality cause I dont see nothing real about those shows. You dont know what happens when the cammers get turned off. They want reality give them reality.
